Design Your Day
Take a few moments in the morning to put
together a basic outline for the day ahead. A short
“check in” is the #1 way to optimize the time in your upcoming day. It saves lots of wasted time spent in urgent mode, avoids surprises at the end of the day, and ensures you're investing your energy into tasks that are most beneficial.
Give Yourself Time
Carve out time for your biggest priorities and make sure you make significant progress in key areas. Break out big projects into bite size pieces and take a step forward daily. Use your morning time for the project that will add the most value.
Let the Small Stuff Go
Reduce the amount of incoming information that you receive to allow you more time to focus on what really matters. Clear out clutter in all aspects of your life. Unsubscribe from email and/or magazine lists. Recycle stacks of paper. Focus on the 20% of the work that gives you the 80% benefit. Let go of the maintenance of things that you simply don’t have time
for. Delegate things that you can.
Recharge Your Energy
Rotating working periods with short rest or recharge periods ensures the greatest
quality and quantity of work possible. Every few hours get up and stretch or
take a quick walk around the parking lot. If you exert too much energy without resting and "filling your cup", you work on a "low power mode" which limits your capacity to be fully creative and inspired.
Optimize Your Space
Have a primary spot where you do your thing. A great
setup can speed up efficiency and increase inspiration tremendously. Keep your areas neat and clean. Give yourself some tools to have fun creating. Setup your cockpit so that everything you need often is within reach.
Have fun! :)
